Where Pipe Failure Starts

The real wear happens on the inside

Slurry, brine, acid, and abrasive media attack pipelines from within — gradually thinning the steel wall until leaks appear. By the time external signs are visible, the damage is often already expensive to repair.

A high-quality rubber lining acts as a sacrificial barrier, vulcanised directly to the steel, taking the punishment so your pipeline lasts longer and maintenance stays on your schedule — not the pipe's.

How It's Built

Two specialists - One accountable package

We combine engineering support, world-class steel fabrication with specialist rubber lining to deliver complete, tested spool packages under a single Duratan quote.

01 — Steel Fabrication

Steel Fabrication

  • Pipe spools, fittings, and structural steel fabricated to your isometric drawings, P&IDs and line list
  • We work with SET-listed Thai steel fabricators offering ASME-certified pressure boundary manufacturing and substantial pipe & spool production capacity.
  • Fabrication to AWS, JIS, BS, Norsok, AS, and ASTM codes and standards
  • Flange drilling to ANSI/ASME B16.5 (USA), EN 1092/DIN (Europe), or AS 4087 (Australia) — matched to your project's governing standard
  • ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 certified
  • Every fabricated spool is dimensionally inspected before surface preparation begins, ensuring the rubber lining is applied only after the steelwork has been verified against the approved drawings
02 — Rubber Lining & Vulcanisation

Rubber Lining & Vulcanisation

  • Interior lining vulcanised onto the fabricated steel spool — bore up to 1.4m diameter or spool length up to 15m per cycle, depending on which combination your spec needs (send us your dimensions and we'll confirm the exact envelope)
  • Natural hard and soft rubber, Butyl, Chloroprene, EPDM, and NBR compounds selected for your media, temperature, and abrasion profile
  • Full lining procedure: surface blasting, primer coat, adhesive coat, rubber sheet lining, autoclave vulcanisation or open steam curing, 100% inspection, then painting and shipping
  • Lining thickness up to 25mm, checked by magnetic thickness gauge to ISO 2808 / ASTM D7091
  • ISO 9001:2015 certified, with full raw rubber lot traceability
03 — Ceramic-Rubber Hybrid Lining

Ceramic-Rubber Hybrid Lining

  • For extreme wear zones (cyclone underflow, tailings lines, high velocity slurry elbows and knuckles), ceramic tiles can be embedded into the rubber lining during the vulcanisation process to dramatically extend service life in high-velocity or high-abrasion sections
  • Ceramic tile vulcanisation-bonded into the lining during the same autoclave cycle as the pipe lining itself — not a separately applied layer
  • Available within the same bore and length envelope as standard rubber lining
  • Can be applied along the full spool or targeted at the specific high-wear sections of a longer line, where straight rubber alone would wear out first
  • Ceramic tile in high-alumina grades — 92% to 99% Al2O3 — with zirconia-toughened alumina (ZTA) available for impact-prone sections where fracture resistance matters as much as raw hardness
  • Tile hardness from roughly 950 up to 1,200 HV depending on grade — harder than hardened steel — matched to the abrasion severity of your application. Silicon Carbide (SiC) available on request for extreme thermal or chemical service
Compound Selection

No single rubber compound is best for every application. The correct compound is selected according to your process media, operating temperature, abrasion profile and chemical environment.

CompoundHardnessBest suited to
Natural Hard Rubber60–90 Type DHigh-temperature acid resistance — electrolytic equipment, HCl and alcohol recovery, bromine production
Natural Soft Rubber35–70 Type ASlurry abrasion resistance — mineral processing and mining pipelines, including large coarse-particle duty
Butyl45–65 Type AThe broadest chemical resistance of the range — H₂SO₄, HF, phosphoric acid, FGD systems
Chloroprene (CR)55–70 Type ASeawater and desalination piping, water box condensers
EPDM55–80 Type AHeated water supply and water treatment, ozone and weathering resistance
NBR60–80 Type AOil and hydrocarbon resistance — petrochemical and refining service

PROCESS MEDIA FLOW FLANGE
Tested to Prove It

Every spool is tested on both sides of the process — the steel fabrication and the rubber lining — with results issued as part of the shipment's Certificate of Conformance.

ISO 2808 / ASTM D7091

Lining Thickness

Magnetic thickness gauge check across the full spool, confirming the lining meets spec before it ships.

ASTM G62 · D5162 / NACE SP0188 / EN 14879-4

Holiday (Spark) Test

DC holiday detector checks the full lined surface for pinholes that could let process media reach the steel.

EN ISO 813 / ASTM D429B

Bond Strength (Peel Test)

Universal testing machine confirms the rubber-to-steel bond holds under load — a lining is only as good as its weakest bond.

AS 4041 / ASME B31.3 / EN 13480 / PED

Hydrostatic Pressure Test

The fabricated steel spool is pressure-tested to your project's governing code by the fabricator, before the rubber lining is applied.

Visual + Dimensional

Dimensional & Visual Inspection

Spool dimensions, flange drilling, and weld quality checked against your isometric before lining and again before shipping.

ASME S · U · U2

Code-Stamped Fabrication

Available for spool packages that require code-stamped pressure boundary components.

What Comes With Every Shipment

SGS pre-shipment inspection

Independent verification before your order leaves Thailand, on every order.

Full material traceability

Steel mill certificates and heat numbers, plus raw rubber lot traceability, compiled into the shipment's Certificate of Conformance.

Certificate of Origin

Issued by Duratan as exporter of record. This supports preferential duty treatment for imports into Australia (TAFTA), New Zealand, Japan, China, South Korea, and other Free Trade Agreement partner countries.

Fixed pricing, up to 24 months

Hedged against raw rubber, foreign exchange and freight volatility, so your budget doesn't move mid-contract.

Flange drilling to your standard

ANSI/ASME B16.5, EN 1092/DIN, or AS 4087, confirmed at order.
